Las Vegas, NV, January 19, 2004 —Genesis Homes is once again turning heads at the National Association of Homebuilders’ International Builders’ Show (IBS) with its latest model, "The Jefferson," a sophisticated two-story home built entirely indoors yet indistinguishable from a traditional site-built home. For the fourth consecutive year, Genesis’ show home is a "must-see" and one of the most popular exhibits at IBS.
Genesis chose to showcase the Jefferson to the thousands of builders and developers attending IBS because of the home’s flexible floor plan and its wide range of exteriors appropriate for different regions of the country. As in years past, the Genesis IBS home demonstrates the quality and sophisticated design capabilities of today’s off-site constructed homes.
The Jefferson, Genesis’ newest addition to its Americana Series—a collection of attractive, affordable homes for urban, suburban and rural properties— was constructed on the exhibit floor in less than a week, a dramatic demonstration of the efficiency of the off-site construction process. The 2,130 square foot, two-story home is the only fully-constructed home on the show floor and boasts a traditional architectural design that is aesthetically fitting for a rural area, suburban neighborhood or urban development.
Built with brand-name materials in Berthoud, Colo., one of Genesis’ nine manufacturing facilities, and then transported to Las Vegas, the Jefferson’s engaging design includes a distinctive roofline and many of the "bells and whistles" the market demands such as nine-foot ceilings, recessed ceilings in the great room, first floor master suite, and an open kitchen.
By constructing a home at the IBS again this year, Genesis is demonstrating to builders the latest in off-site construction technologies, as well as our ability to build a quality home in an exceptionally short amount of time," said Roger Lasater, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Champion. Today, Genesis also formally launched its Customer Design Technology (CDT) at IBS, which provides builders with an interactive planning tool that allows homebuyers to customize their home’s floor plan and exterior features. With this new user-friendly software program, the Jefferson and the other Americana Series models, can be affordably customized to meet a homebuyer’s specific needs. Through a series of pre-engineered options, CDT offers a variety of innovative, changeable floor plans and a full range of exterior designs. CDT allows new homebuyers to enlarge bedrooms, add special kitchen options such as a walk-in pantry, increase the home’s overall square footage and modify exterior elements, including shingle color and siding color and type.

In addition to CDT, builders and developers can benefit from a number of manufacturing efficiencies provided by Genesis’ off-site construction process. Because these homes are constructed indoors in a climate-controlled environment, Genesis’ reliable and experienced work force can build homes year round. In addition, Genesis is able to buy in bulk the same construction materials used by site builders, therefore securing the best pricing. These efficiencies and savings enable builders to cut costs on a square foot basis by up to 15 percent.
With 90 percent of the home constructed in a manufacturing facility, Genesis serves the role of multiple subcontractors, eliminating the need for builders to manage subcontractors independently. An off-site constructed home built by Genesis can be ready for occupancy in less than 90 days. A builder working with Genesis is typically responsible for developing the site, building the foundation and constructing the home’s attachments.
The Jefferson, like all Genesis Homes, carries the 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, a 10-year structural warranty from one of the nations oldest and largest warranty companies.
