Genesis Homes Offers Solution to 'Greatest Need in Housing Today'

New Series of off-site constructed homes are affordable and adapt easily to any location

CHINO VALLEY, Ariz., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Genesis Homes, a member of the Champion family of homebuilders CHB and the only nationwide builder of modular homes, yesterday debuted its newest and most easily adaptable series of off-site constructed homes in a special preview event for Arizona elected officials, builders and developers. The "Cottage" -- the home that will make its official national debut at the National Association of Home Builders' International Builders' Show (IBS) in Las Vegas in January -- is an example of Genesis' response to the country's need for new, reasonably priced housing in American cities.

The 1,944 square foot Cottage is part of Genesis' new Americana series, a collection of attractive, affordable, off-site constructed homes designed to take their places in older urban centers as easily as in suburban and rural properties. It will be the only fully constructed home on the exhibit floor at the IBS and will demonstrate the cost and construction efficiencies that make off-site construction an ideal solution for builders and developers interested in meeting the country's need for affordable housing with high- performance, high-quality homes.

"We are proud to present the Cottage, and its counterparts in the Americana series, as both a housing solution for the redevelopment of older urban neighborhoods and as an opportunity for developers to bring a sense of architectural tradition to new suburban subdivisions," said Paul Jarvis, vice president of sales and marketing for Genesis. "With affordable pricing, flexible floorplans and the latest in construction technologies, the Americana series' model houses are poised to solve the greatest need in housing today -- the need for reasonably priced homes that allow consumers to enjoy the benefits of home ownership in areas convenient to their lifestyle."

The Cottage is a craftsman-style home with a wide front porch, dormers, large moldings and a detached garage. With variable floorplans, these homes fit the needs of empty nesters, traditional families and even extended families, where its owners are caring for their children and parents, simultaneously. The Cottage's traditional styling enables placement in virtually any neighborhood.

Built indoors in a quality and climate controlled environment, off-site constructed homes have long been known for their precision engineering and reduced costs -- a benefit of the manufacturers' bulk materials purchases, a longer construction season and elimination of weather and labor delays. Typically, off-site constructed homes are built faster and with better quality control than site-built homes and can be ready for occupancy in 90 days or less. This enables builders to build homes better, faster, and with increased profits.

"We identified the growing need for reasonably priced, traditionally styled homes and stepped up to help our customers target this market," said Byron Stroud, general manager of Genesis' Chandler, AZ, facility, which built the Cottage for its Arizona and IBS debuts. "By choosing Genesis' Americana series, builders and developers choose homes that will speed up their sell cycle, enhance their reputation for quality, increase their profits and work in any neighborhood, in any region in the country."

The Genesis process could provide builders and developers with opportunities to offer cost savings to homebuyers who, ultimately, get more home for their money.

"Genesis' homes look just like site-built homes but I feel they are built far better," said Dan McGuire, the Chino Valley realtor selling the home in Arizona on behalf of developer, Mountainview Homes. "I am proud to put our signs in front of Genesis homes in Arizona and imagine other realtors around the country feel the same way."

Genesis' Cottage and the entire Americana collection are available nationwide to builders and developers through Genesis' ten, strategically located homebuilding facilities. Builders and developers interested in learning more about Genesis Homes can tour the Cottage at Booth N-1011 during the IBS or visit www.genesishomes.com .
