The only full-scale home built on the convention show floor, Genesis Homes’ Marietta model showcases design, quality and affordability
Atlanta, GA., February 9, 2001 – Visitors to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ Show in Atlanta did a double take when walking past the Genesis Homes exhibit. Right there, in the middle of the convention show floor, was a traditional-style, 1-1/2 story, 2,291 sq. ft. completed home – fully landscaped and furnished – and open for tours.
As the first national supplier of modular homes, Genesis Homes partners with local builders and developers, providing off-site constructed homes customized to meet local design demands and building codes. Working with Genesis Homes helps builders reduce their cycle times and increase their profits; it also provides a new supply chain to solve their labor, material and Internet marketing issues, making them more competitive with large production builders.
Genesis Homes built its Marietta model to demonstrate the full capabilities of modular building. Featuring a gabled front elevation, dramatic entrance, 10/12 roof pitch, dormers, and cathedral ceilings, the architectural design and quality of this three-bedroom, two-bath home rivals any site built home, but at a substantially lower cost.
The home was built in a controlled environment in Lake City, FL, then shipped to the convention center in two modules; the garage and solarium were built on-site. The projected base price for the Marietta model averages in the mid $30 per sq. ft., excluding land and installation, and may vary depending on regional construction code requirements.
In addition to design customization, the Marietta model demonstrates that builders can tailor other key features to meet their buyers’ needs. For example, if a builder is interested in energy efficient homes, Genesis can build to virtually any “green” specifications. The Marietta model is certified under both EPA’s Energy Star and the Atlanta Earth Crafted Homes Green Builder programs. Or, if a builder is interested in “smart homes,” the Marietta shows that Genesis can engineer the home for smart technology that integrates audio/visual, telephone, Internet connections, appliances and security components.
Genesis Homes was introduced in November 2000 by parent company Champion Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: CHB). The NAHB International Builders' Show marks Genesis Homes’ official public debut. Attendees can tour the Marietta model by visiting booth number 914.
